Stakeholders discuss actions and cooperation at Second Boreal Seminar
The Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania held the second Boreal Seminar (5 to 7 October 2016) which was attended by 73 experts from stakeholder organizations across the five Boreal Member States – Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Sweden and Latvia.
Bosland conference – increasing opportunities for nature and society
The Flemish Agency for Nature and Forests, with ECNC and BOS+, co-organized the conference ‘Passion for Nature’, held in Lommel, Belgium, from 12 to 14 October 2016.
Draft results of restoration study presented at workshop
ECNC participated in a workshop in Brussels оn 28 September 2016 to present the draft outputs of the study Technical support in relation to the promotion of restoration in the context of the EU biodiversity strategy to 2020.
Ecosystem services: We must now deliver societal impact
From 19 to 23 September 2016, more than 600 participants from all over the world made their way to the University of Antwerp to take part in the joint OpenNESS, OPERAs, ECOPLAN and ESP conference – Helping nature to help us.

Bracenet develops fashion bracelets from ghost nets

The Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) Europe held its bi-annual conference in Freising, Germany, from 22 to 26 August. The focus of the conference was «Best Practice in Restoration Ecology».

EU study on the ‘umbrella effect’ of Natura 2000
In 2015, the European Commission initiated a research project to assess the wider contribution of Natura 2000 to the conservation of species that are not in the annexes to the Nature Directives. This is the so-called ‘umbrella effect’ of Natura 2000.
