Low Hanging Fruits in restoration and nature management
In 27 September, Eurosite and “Metsähallitus Parks and Wildlife Finland” organised a networking event of the Natura 2000 Biogeographical Process on ecologically justifiable Low Hanging Fruits in restoration and nature management during the Eurosite Annual Meeting 2017.
Continued cooperation with Urk fishing community to benefit the seas
ECNC Group representatives recently visited the fishing village of Urk (the Netherlands) to speak with fishing community representatives about the ongoing cooperation in the framework of Healthy Seas.

ThinkNature Platform to be launched on 25 October 2017
In 25 October 2017, the ThinkNature Platform will be officially launched during the conference ‘Nature-based Solutions: From Innovation to Common-use’ (24-26 October 2017), organized by the Ministry of the Environment of Estonia and the University of Tallinn.
Nature-based solutions photo competition
ThinkNature, of which Oppla is a partner, invites photographers from all over the world to join the NBS Photo Competition.
The winner will receive a GoPro Hero 5 Black or 500 euro in photo accessories (bodies, lenses, etc.). The best photos will be exhibited on 24 & 25 May in Barcelona, Spain.

Second Mediterranean Natura 2000 Seminar
14-16 November 2017, Limassol, Cyprus
From 14 to16 November 2017, the Seminar will provide an opportunity for Natura 2000 experts across the Mediterranean region to discuss the forms of joint actions and concrete areas of cooperation which can be developed to optimise the contribution of Natura 2000 to achieving the Favourable Conservation Status of Mediterranean habitats and species of Community importance.
Towards a shared ecological rationale for more integrated implementation of the Nature and Water Directives
15-17 November 2017, Sarród, Hungary
This meeting is to bring together the specialists to share their experiences on the ecological and technical consistency of implementing the Nature Directives, to share approaches for integrated decision-making by using case studies. Participants will work on principles for ecologically-based decision-making under the Nature and Water Directives.

Nationaal Leisurecongres Loon op Zand ‘1001 verhalen’- De kracht van duurzaam toerisme

ECNC is one of several partners assisting the municipality of Loon op Zand (the Netherlands) in the organization of the national leisure conference: 1001 stories – the power of sustainable tourism.
The three main themes are:
- Sustainable tourism and branding
- Agritourism and vacant agricultural buildings
- Food and regional produce.
Please note: the conference language is Dutch.
