Volunteers clean up North Sea beaches during Boskalis Beach Cleanup Tour
The North Sea Foundation (Stichting De Noordzee), with Healthy Seas – ECNC Land & Sea Group, organized its fifth Boskalis Beach Cleanup Tour in the Netherlands from 1 to 15 August 2017.
2,748 volunteers collected 14,929 kg of waste from Dutch beaches during the Fifth Beach Cleanup.
Webinar series on natural capital and ecosystem services
Six webinars are scheduled, focusing on aspects explored by the OPERAs project, starting in September 2017. The OPERAs project has explored how to move towards practical implementation of the concepts of ecosystem services and natural capital in support of sustainable ecosystem management.
EEA report on the threat to Europe’s landscapes from unsustainable land use
The EEA report (No 10/2017) Landscapes in transition: an account of 25 years of land cover change in Europe takes a close look at the emerging trends over the last two and a half decades in land use and their environmental impacts.
Still time to apply for the 2018 Natura 2000 Awards!
The European Natura 2000 Award has opened for a fourth year of applications. The high-profile ‘EU Citizens’ Award’ goes to the application receiving the highest number of nominations through a public vote on the Award website. The call for applications will be open until 15 Oktober 2017.
