Workshop on Mediterranean forest management and Natura 2000

The workshop was held at the Parc naturel régional du Luberon, France, from 9 to 11 May 2016. Forty experts from France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Spain attended this workshop.

OpenNESS annual meeting reflects on four years of work

The OpenNESS project has entered its last year of operations and so this meeting brought together the results of its work on concepts and theories, policies and regulations, models and methods, and valuation of ecosystem services and natural capital. The meeting was held at OpenNESS partner UFZ’s conference venue in Leipzig, Germany, from 25 to 28 April 2016, and brought together some 70 participants from all partners.

Healthy Seas diving season 2016 kicks off in Greece

 The Healthy Seas diving team of six Greek and Dutch volunteers executed several successful clean-up missions in Greece, from 11 to 16 April 2016. This first Healthy Seas diving action of 2016 achieved huge results!

2016 Natura 2000 Award winners announced

Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Commissioner Karmenu Vella announced the winners of the 2016 Natura 2000 Awards at a ceremony in Brussels on 23 May. The six winners include projects from Bulgaria, Latvia, Spain, and the UK and cross-border projects from Belgium, France, Greece, Bulgaria, Hungary, Finland and Norway.

European Ecosystem Services Conference – Helping nature to help us

19-23 September 2016, Antwerp University, Belgium

The conference is organized by the research projects OPERAs, OpenNESS, and ECOPLAN and the Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP).

Registration is open until 2 September (17:00 CEST). Early Bird registration closes 15 July (17:00 CEST).
